Allie Stough - Hunger Games

Katniss is 16 and Prim is 12 and are sisters. They live in district 12. It is time fro the hunger games again the come every year. One boy and one girl are each chosen from each district. Prim is worried about being picked for her district and Katniss says that she will be fine. Unfortunately Prim was chosen from her district. She was terrified and then Katniss stood and and offered to take her place. They accepted her offer and they went on their way. They ride a train to the capitol and listen to their mentor. He was the only person who survived from their district. They are dressed for the opening ceremony and have fire behind them. It makes them rememberable. Peeta is the other tribute and makes the audience believe that they are in love. All of the tributes are brought up and are in a circle. There are supplies in the center meant to get their attention to make them fight. Katniss doesn't go for it and runs in the woods really far away and tries to find water. The other tributes that are better off form an alliance and hunt the weak ones down. Katniss notices that Peeta is in on this group and feels betrayed. She sees a tracker jacker nest, which are deadly, and cuts it of to land on people below her to free her from the tree. She grabs a bow of one of the dead and as she runs off Peeta kills off another tribute who is after her.  Katniss makes friends with Rue and decides to explode all of the supplies. When she comes back to Rue a boy is killing her so Katniss kills him and Rue dies. Katniss finds Peeta who has a gash in his leg and goes to get medicine. There are creatures that come and chase them. Katniss and Peeta climb a tree and Cato is thrown into the creatures by Katniss shooting an arrow into her hand.  Katniss and Peeta think the game is over until the announcer tells them that two tributes from the same district may win. Katniss decided that they will both eat poison berries and the announcer lets them both win. As they are on the train ride back their coach tells them that they must look madly in love in order to save their image. She is in love with Petta but has a friend back at home. She is torn between the two.   She feels like a victor for her district but feels a woes for not being able to pick the right man for herself.
