Michelle Breland--Outside Reading (2)

I have recently read the book A Clash of Kings, which is the second book in the Song of Ice and Fire series. I think that the world that the author, George R. R. Martin, has created in these books reveal the good and evil in human nature. Martin explores the possibility of redemption in humanity through his multi-dimensional characters and the changes they undergo. The author is able to create the many layers of his characters by incorporating chapters that are written from several characters’ perspectives. We even see the villain’s viewpoint, which makes them seem as not purely evil, but human. At times the most moral characters make the most selfish and horrible decisions that negatively affect their fellow man. I think these books are a great look at humanity and the blurred line between good and evil. At times, the author sets the reader up to question what is good and what is evil, or if evil even exist or vice versa?
