Christian Holmes- General Topic 2

I love the way film functions as a modern narrative. Religion has often used narrative to communicate truth. Christianity is a great example of this. Jesus often spoke in story and parable. Through this, people listening (and later reading) are able to observe the characters within the story or narrative and insert themselves into said story and observe truth that is communicate from that story experientially. This idea of experiencing truth through narrative has been a theme in the phil 451 course this semester and it has been fascinating to observe both book and film as platforms for the same kind of learning.

My only question is, if we can't really understand something in the abstract, what happens when we voice what we have encountered in the story and put it into the hypothetical? Do we no longer understand it? Also, aren't words themselves somewhat abstract and metaphysical? How can we be escaping metaphysical classic logic through the means of a metaphysical device? These things keep me up at night... Let me tell you...
