Sally Duff-Hunger Games

The Hunger Games presents a similar conflict as the Decalogue, but takes it a step further.  It proposes a world where people are made to pay the price of their ancestors’ rebellions, where death is traded for more death.  The Capital wishes to keep the other districs from another rebellion so they create fear.  They show off their power and parade the districts’ weaknesses.  This is also a similar theme in the Old Testament.  God several times, puts his wrath not only on the perpetrator, but also punishes their descendants.  It is an interesting concept.  It must be just, for God is just, but it certainly doesn’t seem so.  It seems unfair for someone to have to take the punishment for something they did not do.  This is exactly what Jesus does however.  He takes the punishment for the whole world’s sins.  In his death on the cross, everyone is able to receive freedom.
